Rainbow Brite

Description

Every so often, I end up going on a nostalgic trip that results in me either finding out something new about something that I vaguely remember from my toddler/childhood years, or in the purchase of something that symbolizes it.

In this case, it's Rainbow Brite, in the form of a homage to her.

I get that a lot of people like her merchandise and such, but personally, I bloody don't remember a damn thing about Rainbow Brite outside of obscure memories from watching Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer on the Disney Channel. (back when it didn't suck assinine monkey balls). And that's just the movie - I don't even remember the TV show (which was only 13 episodes).

So, feeling like I've been missing out on something, I did some research and learnt that she's one of many characters that followed the "It's on a greeting card, so let's make it into merchandise/TV!" trend, like the Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake (who I ALSO don't remember too much).

And that's it I suppose. I just thought it'd be a nice drawing exercise for myself (since I'm looking towards uploading regular deviations in my main gallery), and because I think I might do some more nostalgic-themed sketches.

Next up is Captain Bucky O' Hare (which I also remember vaguely). :D

Rainbow Brite is © to Hallmark Greeting Cards.

Holy crap on a stick. I remember Rainbow Brite, or rather Murky and Lurky, omg they were the awesomest characters ever.. Star Stealer was also a great movie, just the way it was drawn and everything..beautiful stuff.

Sigh.. a blast to the past.. Thank you. :D
